How Does It Work?

Solar power refers to the harnessing of the sun’s energy and turning it into electricity

Photovoltaic power systems use panels of solar cells to produce direct current (DC) power, that is then converted into AC electricity.

Solar panels are made of blocks of solar cells that convert sunlight into electricity. The cells consist of two wafer-thin silicon layers, a positive and negative, that when the sun shines on them creates an electric field like a battery.

A centralized grid connect inverter then converts the DC electricity into 240 AC electricity, which is supplied to the main switchboard. The generated electricity then powers any device being used at the time in the home or business, with any excess sold back to the electricity grid.
